Teenagers can now unpack their skateboards, rollerblades, scooters and BMX bikes and go and try out their new playground. Codename: Zap’ados. The complex, housed in an old industrial plant on the Quai Lheureux, serves social, educational and athletic functions.
So, what is there in the Zap’ados skatepark? There are two huge halls with a total area of 2,600 m²: one houses a CAJ (youth centre) and the other is given over to unidentified rolling objects such as skateboards, rollerblades, scooters and BMX bikes. The CAJ has a reception area and two activity rooms where 12 to 18-year-olds can participate in workshops, visits and projects.
Next door, youngsters from 11 years upwards can use the ramps, the bowl, and the street and flat zones to perfect their skills or try a new activity (see box). They can perform jumps and tackle the ramps, using all their skills to avoid falling.
The urban sports facility (for skateboards, rollerblades, BMX bikes and scooters) is open between February and April, Wednesday-Saturday.
